I Chose Ramla Bay for the View. I Stayed for the Feeling.
And Why It Is Not for Everyone.

I did not book Ramla Bay because it was central.
I booked it because of the horizon.
The first morning I woke early. Balcony doors open. Fresh air moving through the room. Waves below instead of traffic. I stood there longer than I meant to.
Later that morning, I went for a jog along the coast. No cars. No horns. Just sea on one side and countryside on the other. It felt expansive. Clean. Unhurried.
That rhythm defined the stay.
Ramla Bay sits in Marfa, Mellieha, at the northern edge of Malta, facing open Mediterranean water and the islands of Gozo and Comino. There is no skyline. Just horizon.
The shoreline is natural and rocky. You enter the sea via the rocky area using ladders, or from the tiny sandy beach of the resort. Mellieħa Bay is fifteen minutes away if that is what you prefer.
But stepping into clear water straight from the rocks felt real. Mediterranean in the truest sense.
During the day I moved between spaces.
Two family friendly outdoor seawater pools carried energy. The adults only pool offered quiet. The adults only indoor heated spa pool felt almost suspended from time. I was happy there is another indoor pool for families in a different zone.
In the evenings, I discovered something unexpected. Dining with open Mediterranean views changes everything. Different restaurants. Different cuisines. Always the sea as backdrop. Sunset turning gold over the water.
And some nights I did nothing at all.
Just stayed on the balcony. Fresh air. Waves below. No soundtrack required.
It felt like breathing room.
But Here Is the Truth.
Ramla Bay is not for everyone.
If you want nightlife the moment you step outside your room, choose St Julians.
If you want a sandy beach directly below your balcony, you can get one at Ramla. For something larger there is always Mellieha Bay 5 minutes down the road by car.
If you want a tiny boutique hotel in a crowded square, this is not that.
Ramla Bay is a large seafront resort. In summer it can be lively. Families have their space. Adults have theirs. It is structured, not silent.
It faces open sea. That means horizon. It also means wind sometimes.

There is no promenade outside the gates. There is coastline.
If that sounds inconvenient, it probably is not for you.
But if you value:
Early morning jogs without traffic
Balconies with open water views
Fresh air moving through your room
Multiple restaurants with Mediterranean backdrops
The option to shift between energy and calm
Proximity to Gozo and Comino
Some watersports and diving without going out from the resort…
Then you will understand it within minutes of arrival.
It is not about being in the middle of everything.
It is about standing at the edge of something.

Guests staying at Ramla Bay can explore a variety of experiences directly linked to its location:
- Boat trips to Comino, including visits to the famous Blue Lagoon, often depart from areas close to Marfa.
- Hiking in Mellieħa and gentle coastal walks begin right outside the resort grounds.
- Snorkeling and swimming around the natural coastline offer clear-water exploration steps from the property.
- Travellers can easily catch the Gozo ferry, making day trips simple and efficient.
A Stay at the Edge, Not the Centre
It is a place designed for people who want to stand at the edge of something.
